Of note is the presence of the Bleached Sandhill Skipper (Polites sabuleti sinemaculata), a sensitive subspecies. The range for this subspecies consists of the saltgrass and shrubs surrounding Pueblo Slough, Rincon Creek, and Gridley Lake. Additional populations are likely to occur within similar saltgrass habitats in the vicinity and may extend across the Nevada border into Oregon.
