Nevada consists of marginal to unsuitable habitat for wolves and no packs are known to exist within the state. However, isolated wolf sightings have been documented in Northeastern and Northwestern Nevada. Ranchers, landowners, hunters, and outdoors people have anecdotal eyewitness testimony and state and federal agencies have verified trail camera images of wolves within Nevada.
The Nevada Wolf Project will deploy trail cameras in Northwestern Nevada to document additional occurrences of wolves. Occurrence data will help inform agencies and the public of the distribution, movement patterns, and range of wolves in Nevada.
We have identified suitable wolf habitat within dispersal range of known packs overlapping with deer winter range. Trail cams have been deployed and additional cameras will be deployed as supplies allow.
