Manufacturers often assume your equipment will have unlimited power from a wall outlet. In field settings, this is not the case and leaves crews constantly monitoring and replacing batteries. Most small field equipment can be adapted to run of solar with relatively simple and cheap components. Example: trail cameras can run on AA batteries, but that requires staff to monitor how much charge is left in the batteries and replace when necessary. If you get it wrong, you may lose valuable data. It also requires purchasing lots of fresh batteries periodically and recycling old batteries. Alternatively, a small solar panel with a simple charging circuit and battery bank can last the entire duration of your project with no maintenance.
Similar options are available for all types of equipment including video systems, remote sensors, data loggers, weather stations, radio repeaters, communication devices, etc. Give us a call, we're happy to chat about your unique needs.
